At Efios Rail we seek to go beyond the mandatory and regulatory — investing in social programmes and local initiatives to make a positive contribution to our communities and the wider world.
Efios Rail's CSR engagement reflects the personal conviction of founder Erik van Bekkum: that professional success carries an obligation to contribute meaningfully to the communities around you — both locally and internationally.
Our initiatives span multiple geographies and focus areas — youth sports and healthy lifestyles in the Netherlands, support for vulnerable children in Eastern Europe, and leadership and economic opportunity programmes for women and girls in Latin America.
These commitments are sustained over time. Several have been active for more than a decade. We believe that consistency matters as much as contribution.
Since 2020, Efios has been sponsoring teams at a local soccer club and handball club, supporting young athletes with the resources to compete and develop.
Efios provided financial support to the non-profit organisation Kindertehuizen Polen, which works to improve living conditions for abandoned, abused, and disabled young children in Poland.
The contribution supported improvements to housing conditions at orphanage facilities, directly benefiting children in vulnerable circumstances.
Since 2010, Efios has supported the Alimenta el Cambio foundation, which runs leadership, education, and work programmes for women and girls in disadvantaged positions across Latin America.
These programmes create social and economic opportunity through schooling, vocational training, and leadership development — helping women build the skills and confidence to improve their own lives and those of their communities.
We support programmes with a clear, direct connection between contribution and outcome — avoiding administrative overhead where possible.
Most of our CSR relationships span years, not one-off donations. Sustained support builds lasting impact.
Where possible, our CSR goes beyond financial support — including personal time, coaching, and direct involvement in programmes.
